Lynx advert

Lynx advert

An internet ad campaign for Lynx deodorant, featuring model and reality TV star Lucy Pinder, has been banned for many offences objectifying women. The lynx advert received 10 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority. The ASA received a further 113 complaints about a Lynx poster campaign.
The advert included her washing a car, jogging and playing with a light sabre. The advert also used quotes that were seen to object women for example, “What will she do to make you lose control?", "Play with Lucy" and "Put premature perspiration to the test". These quotes were seen to be disrespectful towards women.
The advert featured a woman standing underneath an outdoor shower on a beach wearing bikini bottoms while holding an undone top against her breasts. The poster then quoted, "The cleaner you are the dirtier you get". The public also believe by it being run on their website it was too easily able to be viewed by children.
The ASA final quote, "We considered that the suggestive nature of the image and the strong innuendo were not acceptable for public display where they might be seen by children and concluded that the poster was irresponsible on this point."
